The ‘Innovative Young Biotechnologist Award’ (IYBA) was instituted by the Department of Biotechnology in the year 2005, as an attractive, career-oriented scheme to identify and nurture outstanding young scientists with innovative ideas and desire to pursue research in frontier areas of biotechnology. For the year 2013 awards, the department invites applications from the young Indian investigators upto the age of 35 years. The award will consist of financial support for a project and Cash Award/fellowship for the awardees. Awardees having a regular employment will receive a cash award of ` 1.00/- Lakh every year during the course of the project in addition to grants-in-aid of ` 50.00/- Lakhs for a project. The awardees, those are not in the regular employment will receive a fellowship of ` 40,000/- per month with grants-in-aid and shall be attached to a Senior Scientist (Mentor) in a University, Research Institute, Medical/Agriculture/ Veterinary College or any other institute of repute. It is expected that the awardees will work independently and the Mentor will facilitate the awardees research efforts. Applications are invited for “Tata Innovation Fellowship”, a highly competitive scheme instituted by the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India to recognize and reward scientists with outstanding track record in biological sciences and a deep commitment to find innovative solutions to major problems in healthcare, agriculture and other areas related to life sciences and biotechnology.
University Grants Commission, under its Emeritus Fellowship scheme, is inviting applications from superannuated teachers’ upto 70 years of age of universities, colleges and institutions approved under Section 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act. The order has been issued by UGC Joint Secretary Dr. CS Meena.
As per the scheme, the candidates should be actively engaged in research and teaching programmes in the preceding years to undertake research, without any restriction of position or pay scales.
The assistance available under the scheme is honorarium of Rs. 20,000/- pm from UGC for two years (non-extendable). While a contingency grant (Non-lapsable) of Rs. 50,000/- pa towards secretarial assistance, travel within the country connected with the research project, stationery, postage, consumables, books and journals and equipments.
Foreign visit in connection with the approved research work of the awardee will be limited to once in a year with the prior approval/no-objection of the Institution/University where the project work is being undertaken along with that of UGC.
The Emeritus Fellow would be entitled to such other privileges including medical facilities as available to the university faculty members, but not housing.

IITB Research Internship Award is designed to be an educational and professional research experience. These awards are available for specific research projects. The details of these projects are made available to the candidates so that they can apply for projects of their interest and can prepare themselves well for a rigorous selection procedure. The number of interns will be restricted to the number of projects available. The selected interns are required to work full time for four to six months on the project and will be given a fixed stipend of Rs. 10,000/- per month. Accommodation may be provided subject to availability.
